My good friend Leif Hansen suggested I write this song after I described to him my fear about letting go of practicality and diving into my passions when it comes to my career choices. As I share this with you, I'm swimming in it.

YES, there is another musical reference here. Thanks to you Chris Squire for doing on the bass what no one else could do and sharing it for (basically) your whole life. Unforgettable.
Pterophyllum Scalare - Angel Fish. At 6:40 in this song I created a tribute to Chris. Many basses and drums. Echoing The Fish. That song touched me So Deep, Way Back. Thank you.

lyrics
Some people say it’s simple, in this life to make a splash
Follow your bliss, your passion, your dreams, dive in deep and be the stream
Whatever happens these brilliant ones say is what is meant to be
I’ve got no use for ideas like that, that leave me broke and alone but free
I don’t trust the river, I just know I’m gonna drown
My dreams are full of danger, I’ve got to shoot them down
Every day I’m waiting by the banks with my fears and doubts
I don’t trust The River, guess I’ll be sitting this float out.
I’ve had a look at the rapids, I’ve seen the edge of the falls,
Why would I listen to anyone who tells me - to heed The River’s calls?
The river asks me to sing out loud and share myself with the world
What kind of crap is that I say? They’ll laugh and smirk and sail away.
I don’t trust The River, I just know I’m gonna drown
My dreams are full of danger, I’ve got to shoot them down
Every day I’m waiting by the banks with my fears and doubts
I’d jump in with those carefree fools, but it’s simply not safe to go out.
I’ve seen so many struggling to swim, in the currents so swift so strong
Lost in the waves then crashed on the rocks, and swept helplessly along
Towards the endless sea they flail, gasping and risking it all
I’ve got more sense than that I’ll keep my life nice and safe and small.
Bridge:
I didn’t get what I needed, to be a risk taking man
I never learned the ropes of my ship to get too far from land
And while I hope for a life of true freedom, to come my way
I don’t hold my breath for fear that I might not like that day.
Chorus: I don't trust….
My backup plan is simple, I use it every day
Stay in the comfort of what I know and everything will be OK.
I do what I am expected to do, I keep myself in line
I’ve never fallen too far so far and everything’s going just fine.
My tears they try to trick me, into thinking that I’ve got a chance
To live a life of passion, to join into that golden dance
I start to get excited, about a future that’s bright and bold
The I come to my senses and get back into the fold.
